Fictional Teams in Stone Cold Hockey

During the play-test phase, some questions came up about support for fictional leagues and teams. This stuck in the back of my head until this month, when it finally percolated into focus in a big way. The experience and enjoyment of GridZone came back to mind and inspiration took over.

In short, a team creation process was established, followed by an off-season process. The whole thing consists of a series of linked charts which will require about 5 pages to cover. Now I am in the process of testing and refining it.  Below is a screen shot from my testing spreadsheet, showing the ups-and-downs of a franchise over a decade.  Pretty cool!

The gray boxes represent Team Identity tags. Only ATK, DEF, AGG, and GOL1 ratings can be protected this way. This reduces the chances of loss in that category.  Notice what happened to the GOL ratings after I switched identity to ATK.

Much of the storyline commentary is produced by narrative tables in this system and some of it is just observations.  Anyway, for the few gamers who enjoy conducting their own vision of a hockey league.  We got your back!
